Chugging right along on the Adventurer Wrap

May 3 - Chugging right along...

The week before Maryland Sheep & Wool (MDSW) is always phenomenally busy (even when it is a virtual show), leaving little time for knitting. But I was able to squeeze in a few minutes of knitting here and there in the evenings before bed and again over coffee in the mornings. I find knitting settles my mind before climbing into bed at the end of the day. This is badly needed since my days leading up to the festival are spent juggling colorway schedules. What are colorway schedules you ask? Well, each item that we feature at a festival, whether it is a new kettle dyed colorway or an entire new product line, contains the work of several individuals and everyone's schedule need to align properly or the yarn 'baton' doesn't get passed off to the next person in the product relay. So, anyhow, at the end of the day, my brain is fairly short-circuited with all the little 'notes' of everything it's keeping track of!! Knitting is like a giant therapeutic stress 'eraser' for me. Conversely, I also use my knitting in the morning to gather together my thoughts for what I need to do that day. So it's good both ways...helps to write the notes into my brain in the morning and then to erase them again at night. So, in short, some knitting did happen during the week leading up to MDSW, just not quite as much as in normal weeks.

So, while I do have several projects waiting in the wings that I can't wait to cast on, there is no way on God's green earth I am going to attempt a cast on for a new project during pre-MDSW week!! So, once again I was faithful to the Adventurer Wrap by Ambah O'Brien. I don't want you to get the wrong impression of me, however...I am not really a settle down with one-project gal normally. I much prefer to knit around with multiple projects.

Working faithfully on this one though has been pretty easy since it fairly flies off the needles. I am currently on color 11 out of 14 colors and hope to cast off by week's end! Now that's pretty exciting, huh?!?

What size needle did you use for this beautiful shawl? I have used size 3, 4 and 5 for my gauge swatches and it seems too tight. Thinking about trying a size 6, but I don’t want it to be too lose. I am not a tight knitter, I tend to always go down a size or two on my projects. Thanks in advance for your help.
